Patricia has a Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree (2003) and a Food Science and Technology degree (2005) from the University of Barcelona. She holds a PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism from the Rovira i Virgily University (2010). After obtaining the PhD, she did a posdoctoral collaboration in the Lipid Unit from Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at Hospital Clinic (Barcelona). In 2011, she obtained a “Marie Curie international Outgoing Fellowships for Career Development” (IOF) to do her postdoctoral research at the Nutritional Genomics Laboratory of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (Tufts University, Boston, USA) for 24 months and at the Disorders of Lipid Metabolism and Molecular Nutrition Laboratory of IMDEA-Food (Madrid) for 12 months.

Her main research activity has focused on studying the effects of nut consumption on energy balance and cardiovascular risk factors; the study of possible interactions between genetic and health style factors in the obesity development; and the relationship between food and epigenetic factors in the development of cardiovascular disease.
