Thahira Shireen Mustafa is a public health nutritionist with extensive experience in strategy development and evidence-based policy making for nutrition. She brings a unique multistakeholder perspective to the international nutrition scene based on her experience working with Governments, United Nations agencies, parliamentarians, research institutes, civil society, donors, and businesses.
Thahira currently works with the World Health Organization based at the headquarters in Geneva. She provides technical advice to countries in the field of maternal, adolescent and child health and nutrition to build healthier populations and societies by translating
global recommendations into national policies and action plans.
Thahira has a decade of experience working in nutrition policy, programming, partnership building, research and knowledge management. She holds a master’s degree in clinical nutrition, and a master’s degree in public health nutrition and rural development. She is best described as a catalyst for change who inspires people to take transformative actions.
Markus has a PhD degree in Molecular Biology and is fellow of the first edition of MOEBIO´s dHEALTH Barcelona (EIT Health and Stanford Biodesign affiliated). He co-founded the medical device company MOWOOT in 2014 and launched their first product to treat chronic constipation in 2016. Markus has first-hand experience in early stage fundraising, go-to-market and team leadership and has won various international competitions & awards with MOWOOT. He is mentor & faculty member in international entrepreneurship programs, such as dHealth Barcelona, CRAASH Barcelona, MWC The Collider, EIT Health Wildcards or Life Science Accelerator Baden Württemberg.
Head of the Department of Geriatrics at Hospital Universitario de Getafe (Madrid), Professor of Geriatrics at the Universidad Europea de Madrid, Scientific Director of the Spanish Center for Biomedical Research on Frailty and Healthy Aging (CIBERFES) (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness), and Co-director of the Toledo Study on Healthy Ageing, carried out on 2.895 community-dwelling older people. Director of the GARN-IAGG network since July 2017. His main lines of research are frailty, diabetes and models of care. Principal Investigator in more than 40 externally, peer-reviewed funded projects research including several EU-funded projects focused on frailty. In addition, he is participating in several other EU-funded projects. Prof Rodriguez Mañas coordinates since 1st January 2017, on behalf of the Spanish government, the Joint Action ADVANTAGE, funded by DGSANTE, with the aim of building a European roadmap to face in a coordinated and homogeneous way the clinical, organisational and public health challenge of frailty. Prof. Rodriguez-Mañas has published more than 200 original manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, books and book chapters on several aspects of ageing, frailty and diabetes in older people and has participated in performing Technical Reports on those issues for both national (Ministry of Health, Scientific Societies, Research Bodies and Agencies) and international (WHO, PAHO, DG-SANCO, DG-Research, IAGG, etc) organisms.

Originally studying medicine in Scotland, John is a pioneer of the Australasian medical recruitment industry and has over 20 years experience growing his award-winning business, Wavelength International, from two founders to over 100 staff. Moving to Europe in 2012, John worked initially for an equity crowdfunding business focused on raising seed funds for European life sciences start-ups, before launching LUKA BIO with the co-founders in 2019. John provides guidance and mentorship to start-up founders on how to set up their own in-house recruitment capabilities in preparation for growth. His recruitment portfolio includes C-suite, medical and research roles within life sciences. A keen surfer and musician, John lives in Barcelona but travels extensively in Europe, North America and Australia.
Prof. José M. Ordovás
Senior Scientist and Leader of the Nutrition and Genomics Team at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging - Tufts University
Dr. José Ordovás is Senior Scientist and Leader of the Nutrition and Genomics Team at the HNRCA. His research focuses on the genetic factors that predispose individuals to heart disease and obesity as well as the interaction of these genetic factors with the environment and behavioral factors. In particular, Dr. Ordovás examines the impact of diet on genetic factors. He has published well over 780 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written numerous reviews and books on these topics. In this regard, Dr. Ordovás is considered one of the founders of nutrigenomics. Dr. Ordovás embraces new areas of nutrigenomics related to the regulation of gene expression by microRNAs and DNA methylation and the relation between genes, chronobiology and obesity. He and his team are currently studying the APOA2 gene, diet, inflammation, and gut health, as well as populations at high risk for heart disease and the TCF7L2 gene and the dietary prevention of type 2 diabetes. He is a Professor of Nutrition and Genetics at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and Professor at the School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University. Dr. Ordovás also chairs the Functional Genomics Core Scientific Advisory Committee at the same school. Throughout his career, Dr. Ordovás has received multiple honors for his scientific achievements, including the USDA Secretary’s Award, the Centrum American Nutrition Society Award, the Mary Swartz Award (presented by the Dietetic Association,) the Garry-Labbe Award (presented by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry,) and the Francisco Grande Memorial Lecture all for Excellence in Nutrition Research.

Christophe Moinard has a PhD graduate in human nutrition and he is professor of nutrition at the Grenoble Alpes University (UGA, France). His research focuses on translational research in physiopathological conditions (ie aging and aggression) and development of primary prevention. He is the author of around 100 publications (original article in peer-reviewed journals, reviews, book chapters etc.). He was a member of the Scientific Council of the French Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (2006 to 2010) and Associate Editor at the British Journal of Nutrition (2005 to 2009). In terms of innovation, he collaborated with many companies (Nestlé, Nutricia, Biocodex etc.), he has also filed several patents and is one of the founders of Citrage Company ®. Lastly, he is the holder of the Senior Nutrition Chair funded by the UGA Foundation thanks to the patronage of Findus. Since 2016, he is the scientific coordinator of the European project Cook to Health. He is also in the French CLC team of the EIT Health (the most important European network dedicated to healthcare) as “Partners representative and knowledge triangle integration” and “Cross KIC Food Health Officer”. On January 1st 2021, he will be the director of the University’s future Federative Structure for Research in Nutrition (SIGN).

Pere Condom is an industrial engineer and has a master’s degree in business management. For the last 20 years he has been working on technology transfer, technological entrepreneurship and management of large public research infrastructures. Specifically, at the University of Girona he was responsible for technology transfer and he also created and directed the entrepreneurship office for spinoff companies. Then he was the director of the UPC Park at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and later director of Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona (UdG). He is currently director of the Programa Catalunya Emprèn.
He has combined management activities with teaching and research. Regularly he teaches masters sessions in several universities, lecturing on R&D management, innovation, technological entrepreneurship and promotion of regional economic development. His doctoral thesis was centered on technology transfer and on spinoffs promotion. He has conducted research and consultancy activities on projects related to innovation policy, science parks and technology investments. He has also published on these issues. He has been in the board of directors of Inveready, a seed capital company, for the period 2008-2014.

He works as a medical writer specializing in helping pharmaceutical companies, scientists and healthcare professionals speak the same language as their audience. He is also a researcher in science and health communication at the Observatory of Scientific Communication at Pompeu Fabra University and assistant lecturer at Blanquerna School of Health Science (Ramon Llull University, URL) and at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

Denine is a visiting lecturer at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, School of Public Health and Health Sciences where she teaches nutrition courses. Having lived in Barcelona, Spain for 10 years, Denine has collaborated on a variety of public health initiatives. Between 2018 and 2019, Denine served as the Scientific Associate for the Biomarkers and Nutritional & Food Metabolomics Group of the University of Barcelona, coordinating the EIT Health Innovating the Joy of Eating for Healthy Aging Summer School. She also co-authored the MedDiet Project’s School and Local Authority guides distributed to seven Mediterranean countries with the aim of increasing awareness and promoting a return to the traditional Mediterranean eating and lifestyle habits as a way of fostering health, sustainability, and economic growth within the region.
Denine is a registered dietitian having completed the Dietetics program at New York University and internship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Denine currently lives in the Washington D.C. area with her husband and two children

Yuan Lu is Associate Professor of Design for Healthy and Active Ageing. She is a member of the Faculty Graduate School Admission Committee and a Visiting Associate Professor at Zhejiang University in China. Lu is interested in exploring the use of design probes to create innovation opportunities and support design decisions with multi-stakeholders. She aims at creating intelligent products, systems and related services for the increasing aging society. She has a background in mathematics, industrial engineering and innovation sciences. Luhas been leading and participating in a number of national and EU research projects in the area of designing for healthy and active ageing, including the CRISP Grey but Mobile project (2011-2014) in the Netherlands and the Horizon 2020 REACH project (2016-2020) in Europe. She has been a member of the advice board to the Province Brabant in the area of Healthcare since 2017.

Then, He has co-created in 2016, a company named Health My Project with an orthopaedic surgeon in order to challenge the medical, technological and human value of any type of project in healthcare & autonomy. Bernat has an international career that ranges from institutional communications at the European Parliament to launching start-ups in China. His clear priority is to devote his energy to projects with a positive impact. Both with activist backgrounds, Marc Coloma and him met in an entrepreneurship program in Barcelona and they decided to launch Heura together. In April 2017, Heura was already a reality in the Spanish market and they are currently present in 9 countries around the world. Bernat currently leads the Social Movement department of the start-up.

Before joining EIT Health in October 2019 where he works as a project manager of several programmes supporting start-ups and entrepreneurs, he worked as a research and development scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces and Grifols.
